The unnecessary Eurovision post

Well,I’m from Europe and we Europeans like contests so many,many moons ago the Eurovision song contest was created for all the talented (or ,lately,not so talented) singers and composers coming from member   countries of the EBU(I think it’s called the European Broadcasting Union)which ,interestingly enough,includes Israel too.

Now,to answer the question I guess everyone is thinking of right about now : “why does she and most of Europe still watch this?” ,I can’t speak on behalf of all europeans but I watch it because it’s good fun,I get a kick out of seeing wannabe musicians forcing the best out of them and a crappy song with no logic.I’m guessing that’s why everyone watches it ,we europeans do even crap in style(u know, if it’s bad it’s at least a funny bad)and we laugh(or at least I do) at how ridiculous our countries contestant is.

Another fun thing about Eurovision is that the voting,which is done in every country separately and then transformed into points,usually follows the pattern of :”uhh,let’s vote for “x” country ’cause we’re neighbors/of the same background,etc” with small differences depending on which country had the most liked song.
This basically means that if you are a well liked country with a good song or show u stand a big chance of winning or ending in the first 3 .If u’re a not so liked country or u don’t have that many neighbors or,as it happens with us Romanians,your neighbors are not of the same background(meaning we’re latin and all the ones around us are either slavic)then you need a very,very good song or show to finish top 5.

This year Russia finally won and it was bound to happen since most of the republics that formed the USSR now have a right to vote.It was also predictable since that Dima Bilan guy had Plushenko and E. Marton on stage with him as part of the show and those 2 have many fans.

Romania “won” the 20th place (which is kinda’ embarrassing since 2 years ago we got 4th place and 3 years ago we were 3rd) but I can’t say I didn’t see it coming ……..that song sucked big time .

I liked Turkey’s song ,it’s pretty much the only one that stuck with me also ’cause it’s more in the style of music I tend to listen to the most and because I like turkish music.Best moment of the show was Goran Bregovic.

Before I post the  clips with performances from this year let us remember the recent past of this competition mostly because I seriously need to post Verka Serduchka’s performance for Ukraine last year,it was so funny and crappy and funny and I love it and I wish they could have sent him this year too with the same song to win it all.

Oh look,it’s a flying saucer !!! aka Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I’m a fan of the Indiana Jones series and couldn’t miss the chance to get my dose of the totally unrealistic ,highly inaccurate(I guess),somewhat childish adventures of good old Indy and his hat.So,on a beautiful Friday(23 of May) I skipped my practice hours at the travel agency(yeah,don’t ask)and went to the Mall instead to see if this movie managed to rise up to its fame.

Well,I wasn’t disappointed but I have a feeling that I’d enjoy an Indiana Jones movie even if it were produced by a bunch of retarded people as long as it kept its style and Harrison Ford.The story is ,as the title suggests,about a Crystal Skull .Indy is followed by some crazy russian people(see,the story takes place around the Cold War or something like that,the ’50s)and ,just as he was preparing to leave the country after being slightly fired,this young ,slick dude called Mutt(Shia LaBeouf) finds him and tells him his mother left in search of Prof.Oxley who was captured by some people while he was in South America trying to find and return a mysterious crystal skull.All throughout their journey they’re followed,captured and lost by a mean russian lady (played by the fabulous Cate Blanchett)who is not exactly sane.I won’t say more about the plot because I don’t want to completely ruin the movie for you but it’s all in the usual style,a combination of history and total fiction + 1 WTF moment at the end where u’ll be going like “come on man,that’s way too much even for the Indy movies”.

I must mention I totally dislike Shia LaBeouf but luckily I managed not to think about that too much during the movie .Harrison Ford is great even at 64 and he’s in damn good shape ,Indiana Jones was always one sexy beast (maybe it’s the hat or the whip or just the jacket….don’t know :D).

All in all it was a wonderful way for me to spend approx. 2 hrs and I recommend it to all Indiana Jones fans.I hope if there’s a sequel Harrison Ford will star in it because I don’t want Shia L. as the new star.

House Season 4 Finale 4×16 Wilson’s Heart rant + HD Screencaps

The last episode of Season 4 aired in the US Monday night and it was AMAZING again.Isuck at reviews and stuff but I’ll rant about it a little.
Let’s take it in steps to try and make it coherent.

1.The episode as a whole was great,loved it to bits.There was little mystery and the focus was on the characters again but they still managed to keep the medical details in the show which is good ’cause I like strange,interesting,scientific babble.

I liked Amber ,even when she was clearly not such a nice person, for some of the same reasons for which I like T-Bag from Prison Break : she’s interesting,refreshing,fun,funny,witty which makes her a good addition .Also,I liked her with Wilson because she really was a lot like House and Wilson likes House a lot and loves him dearly as a friend so it makes sense that a woman a lot like House ended up being the perfect woman for Wilson.Having said this,I am very sorry she died but it was a rather bold move to kill a character that was becoming important,very important and had a lot of potential.The writers nailed it with this decision because the emotional intensity of this episode sky rocketed without having many dramatic moments.Also this allowed the writers to create a story that revolves around House’s friendship with Wilson and shows exactly how they feel about eachother while at the same time showing the different,caring,hurt side that we all know House has

2.The acting was superb yet again.Sure,Hugh always gets a chance to shine and in this last 2 episodes he SHINED like the sun (yes,I’m that obsessed)but I was very happy that Robert Sean Leonard got his chance to prove what a great actor he is and show his full puppy in distress/adorableness potential.Anne Dudek also did a great job now and throughout the show.

Seriously,between House/Hugh crying/being sad/wounded/in pain and RSL crying/being sad no one stands a chance…..crying like an idiot is guaranteed or,if u’re like me aka not a crier,u’ll be hearing your heart break into small pieces.Hugh has such an expressive face and big expressive blue eyes and the kindness he seems to generally have helps him deliver so much emotion,so much pain and sincerity,he’s the Puss in Boots(from Shrek) of the real world.

When he was on that bus with Amber towards the end and she told him to get off the bus and he said no,that he can’t because it doesn’t hurt in there and he doesn’t want Wilson to hate him and doesn’t want to be miserable anymore ,they were showing his face closely and his big sad eyes and he was tearing up and my heart was slowly but surely dying………. *cries*.

3.What I didn’t like . There were 2 main things I didn’t like about this episode :

a) lack of Cameron because Cameron and Wilson are nr 2 in my book after House(yes,I can’t decide between them)and because House and Cameron are meant for eachother.She should have been there for House as she was for Wilson(why didn’t they make that one a longer scene????)and she should have helped.

b) the Cuddy-holding-House’s-hand part and not the scene itself really because that was ok but the moment in which it was shown and the fact that it was ,the way I see it,out of character for Cuddy(at least the real ,season 1 and season 2 Cuddy,the good Cuddy).That holding his hand thing came around the scene on the bus where House said he doesn’t want to be miserable and lonely anymore so I think it’s possible for the Cuddy scene to be a sort of sign of things to come from the writers. See,they fucked Cuddy up in their attempts to show us some sexual/romantic chemistry between them because I think they realized that they have a friendship vibe but not a sexual vibe so they must “poke” our eyes with the sexual chemistry,they have to make it blunt.It’s really not sexual at all because all they do is have House make fun of Cuddy in a sexual way and have Cuddy behave like a semi-hooker around him sometimes.Cuddy now seems to have no other purpose now that to be sexy around House and be the object of his most unflattering jokes.She no longer has any authority over him,she begged him not to cause her to lose her job 2 episodes ago while she is technically HIS BOSS and shows no depth.It’s a shame,I liked the first/second season Cuddy and her friendship with House but now her character makes me sick. Yeah,I’m a House/Cameron fan (it’s my only ship ever and I watch countless shows and usually hate romance on tv shows) and one of the reasons for which I am a fan is because it’s subtle,because their chemistry/sexual tension is natural and needs no words,a look,a slight touch,them being a little closer to eachother is enough to send sparks in all directions.They can make a medical talk about puke be sexy and full of subtext with a look(and the actors/writers used to talk about that a while ago).No matter how hard they might try to turn Cameron into a Wilson 2.0 for House they’ll never succeed because the tension and subtext is always there even when there’s no intention for it.Also,look,Amber was House 2.0 and was great for Wilson so the same might apply to House.Oh and House never made fun of Cameron in the shallow way he makes fun of Cuddy ,with Cameron it was always about deeper things. Now I’m waiting for season 5 which can’t start soon enough.I’m certain House will mend things with Wilson because they need each others friendship .Also I’m certain House will think of changing a bit,of trying to be happy although he probably won’t lose the walls he built around himself in one season .Well,as long as there’s no Huddy,I’mhappy.

I hope they’ll bring Cameron and Chase back(but not as a couple) because they deserve to be in this show and fans want them back,things aren’t quite the same without them.

I want to say SORRY for I’m certain I have MANY mistakes (grammar mistakes and writing ones) in this post because I wrote it in a hurry while my thoughts regarding the show are in no order,my head’s a mess 😀

House MD at the FOX upfronts + schedule

Here comes the second upfronts related post.This time it has everything to do with House MD and FOX.

According to the new schedule ,House is going to air back on Tuesday but one hour earlier which I think is not a good idea especially since it’s pretty much their top tv-series right now but I’m guessing it’s because they have a new tv-series called Fringe(the man behind it is JJ Abrams of Lost fame)and they’re probably trying to use the viewers House brings to get the new show going.Starting from spring 2009 House will air Wednesdays .Personally I don’t like this changes and I wonder if there is more than one reason behind the change but hopefully the ratings will stay as strong because this show can never ever end ,Hugh Laurie must be House for at least ……100 more season 😀 ’cause it’s fun and hot and I like the scruff and I need to see Jennifer Morrison more often and Cuddy can get her own spin-off if she wants,I don’t care.

Sadly Hugh didn’t attend the upfronts (maybe he couldn’t leave LA) and I couldn’t find that many pictures but I do have a couple adorable ones with Robert Sean Leonard,Jesse Spencer and especially Jennifer Morrison.Pics snagged from diebacelar’s lj and random sites . Heroes at NBC Upfronts + whole NBC fall 2008/spring 2009 schedule

Since my 2 favorite shows at the moment are House MD and Heroes I’ll concentrate on them and will only write about the NBC and FOX upfronts/schedules .

Ok so ,this week the big guys in television revealed the schedule for the new season starting in the Fall and had their upfront parties,meetings,etc(see,this is one of the reasons I love the US television industry).

This post is all about Heroes obviously and the NBC schedule.There’s not much to say,things are pretty clear,Heroes keeps its time slot and day (Monday) and will hopefully have a great season.Most of the cast was at the upfronts (- Hayden Panettiere ,at least I didn’t see her)and Zach Quinto(Sylar) apparently got his eyebrows to grow again after his Star Trek movie thing (also,he has little sense of fashion but that’s cute).Ali Larter was present and so was Dania Ramirez which means they’ll be in the next season for sure(same can be said about Adrian Pasdar but everyone pretty much guessed he can’t leave the show EVER).

House 4×16 Wilson’s Heart promo

Will this episode RULE? Y/N? Will it make me obsess more than I already do ? Y/N? Will I totally lose my mind after it and thinking there’s a long hiatus ahead? Y/N? Is there any sanity left for me to lose in the first place ?Y/N?

Well at least after seeing a high quality version of the promo I got to the conclusion that the House-and-Amber-are-about-to-kiss part is most probably a hallucination because the symptoms u see on the board behind Amber are the same as in another bit of footage from the promo and the board is in the same place so …..yeah,I’m that obsessed.But this does in no way mean I’m not insanely jealous of Anne Dudek(Amber aka Cut Throat Bitch aka CTB aka Wilson’s girlfriend).It also does in no way mean I stopped freaking out over the small possibility of House having some sort of romantic feelings for Amber and/or and affair which would be so bad for so many reasons it’s not even funny(reasons like House not being that type of guy – yes,even with all the hooker talk – ,House not being capable of doing such a thing to his best friend who I know he cares deeply about ,etc). Also the whole Amber thing freaks me out because I don’t want them to totally kill the House/Cameron which is the one and only ship I ever cared about in my life(and keep in mind I watch countless shows)……..the House/Cuddy threat is already nauseating enough for me(oh the fun Lisa E must have had while shooting House’s Head………hate,hate,more and more hate……..but let’s move on).

House’s Head (Season 4 Episode 15) – random thoughts

The first part of the 2 parter House MD season finale aired in the US Monday evening and it was such a powerful ,impressive,well written episode I just had to write about it.
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DO NOT WISH TO BE SPOILED : U MIGHT NOT WANT TO READ THIS

So,to be shorter,House was on a bus that crashes and he loses the memory of last 4 hours .What he does remember is that someone on the bus is dying of something and think he spotted a symptom before the bus crashed.The need to solve this puzzle makes him neglect his own head injury ,which becomes worse and worse, but he won’t stop because he feels it’s really important to remember what happened on the bus and who exactly is sick and dying.At first he tries hypnosis which helps him start remembering small stuff like where he was before he got on the bus.He then sniffs the passengers clothes and that again takes him inside his head and into his memories of being on that bus.Slowly and as he gets worse,he gets more and more clues.In the end ,the mysterious woman that appears in his memories/hallucinations proves to be the key(actually her necklace is)and after his most dangerous attempt at jump starting his brain ,which involves taking Alzheimer’s pills, he manages to re-live the accident and realizes that the person who is dying ,and who was on the bus with him for some unknown reason, is Amber(CTB aka Wilson’s girlfriend).The accident scene is emotional,moving and House appears to somehow care about Amber (even if only because she’s the woman Wilson loves) and he looks genuinely concerned about what is going on with her while the bus rolls over ,people fly around and he wakes up seeing Amber gravely injured.While House is reliving this his body and brain are suffering from all the strain he put on them and the pills he took and they show him being resuscitated by Cuddy and Wilson while everyone is scared he might have died.

There are many questions left unanswered especially as to why House and Amber were in the same bus and why does House seem to care and why was he in a bar getting drunk at 5pm before getting on the bus.The promo preview seems to imply there might be something going on between House and Amber but I really hope that is not the case.

This episode was amazing,it was almost perfect (actually,for a neutral fan it is perfect).For me ,the House fan ,it was superb but for the House/Cam fan and Jennifer Morrison/Cameron fan in me it was rather sad because she wasn’t a key character in this episode(or at least didn’t seem to be) and in case they are going to show House having an affair with Amber,between that and the House/Cuddy fear,I am left with little hope.Also,while Lisa Edelstein has a great body and the scene itself was well made,I didn’t like the stripping/pole dancing thing because I hate the House/Cuddy pairing(it’s illogical ,u can’t fall for someone after 20 years of not being in love with them and after u had your chance but didn’t want to take it)and in order to give it any sexual tension they have reduced Cuddy to a sexual fantasy and joke subject.She no longer has any authority and all u think of are her boobs.

Also,if Hugh Laurie doesn’t win an Emmy this time then there really is no justice .He was brilliant,absolutely brilliant .I think about 60% of this episode consisted of close-ups and Hugh has such an expressive face,his eyes have great depth,a powerful gaze and show so many emotions it’s amazing.When House is hurt,in pain (subtly or not),sad or happy Hugh manages to make everyone feel for him,hurt for him or be happy with him and in this episode there were moments where the pain and hurt was so present in his eyes and on his features u just wanted to be there for him when no one is.

I want to thank Hugh Laurie for giving the chance to people like me to see and follow the life and career of the wonderful,talented,amazing person he is !

I also want to thank David Shore for making this amazing show and PLEASE stop the HUDDY,it’s the one thing I don’t like about it.

In the end I’d like to apologize for the ,I’m sure many,mistakes I’ve made in this post but I am not so coherent right now.

Heroes,how I miss you

EW has some nice Heroes info regarding the 3rd season.It’s not completely new to the fans but so damn promising . I want new episodes of Heroes NOW,September is so far away *cries*

The season 3 premiere of Heroes will be, rather appropriately, super-sized. NBC will air a three-hour ”event” on Sept. 15, consisting of a one-hour recap of the previous two seasons, followed by the two-hour season premiere. The third season may also be epic another way: there are rumors that there may be as many as 35 episodes on the schedule. It’s likely that at least some of these eps were casualties of the writers’ strike, which devastated the current season of the Peacock’s sci-fi show: 24 episodes were ordered, but only 11 made it to air. “
