On Sunday the population of our country,Romania,for those who don’t know,were called to do what most,if not all,democratic nations do every once in a while : VOTE. Of course,we,romanians(from that country,Romania which is not in Russia,we’re not slavic,we’re latin,we’re also not gypsies and we’re not a type of food,drink,tribe or any other stuff people might associate our country’s name with ),still think not voiting is a form of showing the great,stupid leaders that we protest and will not be fooled so only about 30% of the population went to cast their vote.I find this stupid because it’s your democratic right,u have the power to choose and even if both sides are made up of idiots who like to steal,choosing the less evil one is still important and a step forward.

Well,I voted for the party called PSD (well,in fact we have uninominal voting so we vote in colleges ,for a certain person but they do represent a party so I just vote for the person from the party I find to be the lesser of two,or more,evils).After my success in the last elections ,the local ones,for the mayor,where the one I voted for won and he’s actually planning on doing some good stuff ,the Party I voted for won the elections but by a margin of just under 1% and that means around 33% as opossed to the 32% of the PD-L Party .Now some negociations have to take place between the parties in order to form an alliance that can take one of these 2 parties over the 50% margin and give them the right to make the Government and choose the Prime Minister.See,these 2 parties are big adversaries and the PD-L one is,in my opinion,the worst of them all(our “brilliant” President was in this party).Our politic “life” is so fun and funny and stupid.

Wow,it’s been two weeks since I last posted something House MD related. I’m still obsessing over it but I’ve lost the will to rant over it and post new episode promos for now because every episode is a let down.Ok,I did watch the 9th one(Last Resort) only because of Hugh and Zelijko Ivanek ,it was ok,would have been great without the Huddy soap-opera ,subtle wanna’ be moments and 13 being front row again.Having said that,this was the one and only episode where 13 had her purpose and I didn’t mind her much.Also,as a great example of how I am not biased when I hate the Huddy and say they have no chemistry, I thought Hugh and Olivia Wilde have some pretty good chemistry in this episode,far more than Hugh has with Lisa Edelstein or with Sela Ward(and I did find the Stacy arc interesting so I’m not biased by hate or something).Still,would have rather seen Cameron in her place but no one likes Cameron anymore.Now 2 Huddy (and 13 related) episodes follow so I’m not going to watch them and watch House go from a great character to a lame one just like the show.

A major Heroes post will follow tomorrow or the day after tomorrow because I’m about to watch Villains part 2 in a couple of minutes and will obsess over the 2 parter afterwards.

Sure,Heroes is not as good as it was in the first season,some stuff aren’t ok but I think it at least manages to keep big fans like me .The show is in the fantasy category so it’s hard not to fuck it up and Heroes is slowly getting back to what it was in the beginning.Also,I like that they manage to do their thing while also respecting the fans and incorporating at least some of their wishes into it,keeping some characters like they used to,killing others that no one likes,etc.

I love sports ,I love it very much so guess who’s watching the Olympic Games for at least 2 or 3 hours each day ! Of course,I don’t like all sports but that’s a totally different subject .

I’ll tell you this : hearing our anthem being played for one of our amazing athletes at the Olympic Games is the time,one of the only times,when I feel really proud of my country and countrymen because they had a chance,and took it,to prove that they ,that we, are not a nation made of gypsies who only know how to steal and beg as the great nation of Italy seems to think we are (OPEN SOME GOD DAMNED HISTORY BOOKS ITALIA)or some unknown country in the middle of nowhere and all we need is to be given chances to prove ourselves more often.

So,today Constantina Dita Tomescu won the women’s marathon(the 42 km race) and  the amazing Sandra Izbasa won the women’s floor exercise in gymnastics(a sport we were always particularly good at *remember Nadia Comaneci * ).The bronze medal won by the 8+1 women rowing team was a bit of a disappointment because this was the one event where our country was and still is the best in the world and has a great tradition but in the end it’s still a medal and that counts for something.

Now my biggest expectations come from my beloved handball team(womens) who sadly lost today against Norway by one goal mainly because the referees were playing for the other team as it usually happens with us.But we have one of the best handball national teams in the world,some of the best players out there,the most amazing ,dedicated goalkeeper *Hutupan,Hutupan*,a wonderful coach and chances to win a medal,any medal,so I’m rooting for them.

MY POST CONTINUES AFTER THE JUMP with some stupid ramble concerning us and sports so read if interested

Let me say this,I’m not a patriot or one of those people who tremble each time they see their national flag somewhere,anywhere and go shout their love for their country at every chance they get.I think my country and its people are nice and have great potential but I also know we fuck things up at almost every chance we get because we are probably used to be bullied and ordered around and have no will of our own(blame the communism for that or years of otoman and *add other big empires who decided they like this place at some point in history* domination).Somehow we end up making the wrong decisions ,caring for the wrong thing and there is a growing sentiment among the masses that in this country,ruled by idiots and people who only think of themselves and their wallets,you can only succeed as an individual,only if u don’t give crap about how the rest are doing .Again,I blame this on all the years of domination when our destiny was not in our own hands and now that our destiny belongs to us and us alone we don’t know what to do with it and forget that,at the end of the day,we are a nation,we’re all romanians,we live together in one country,one piece of land that has to be commonly taken care of if we want to individually lead a good life.But again,this post is not about such things so we’ll move on.

So,we cleverly established that I’m not a patriot fool and I don’t shiver at hearing my countries name or anything(actually,I’d gladly move to Britain or Austria if anyone wants to give me the citizenship as a lovely present *hint* *hint* ) but today I was proud and it was,as always, sports that made me proud .

Today we won 3 medals (2 gold and one bronze) and that is a great thing for us because everyone has such great expectations from our sportsmen and women but almost no one is interested in making training conditions better or in helping them reach their full potential .This means that ,in many sports that aren’t football,training facilities are out of date or insufficient and the salaries/earnings small,too small for all the stress and work needed to reach the top form which means less children/adolescents choose to have a real career and sacrifice some of the best years of their life to reach the top in this or that sport.

Today in Romania we had the second stage of the general elections for mayor and the local councils .I live in the capital city,Bucharest ,so I went to vote for one of the 2 candidates who managed to qualify for the second round : a guy from a party called PD-L and an independent candidate .My vote went to the independent candidate ,Sorin Oprescu for various reasons : 1.he’s a good guy ,a doctor and he’s smart ; 2. that other guy is part of a party that our crazy President supports and the whole said party is full of rotten people who won all the elections in 2004 and proved they are up to no good.

Now the exit poll results are in and they have Sorin Oprescu as the winner with almost 55% so I am very,very happy because I trust things will be better and we finally have a good mayor who won’t steal all our money and lie to us. I love democracy right now !!!

Well,I’m from Europe and we Europeans like contests so many,many moons ago the Eurovision song contest was created for all the talented (or ,lately,not so talented) singers and composers coming from member   countries of the EBU(I think it’s called the European Broadcasting Union)which ,interestingly enough,includes Israel too.

Now,to answer the question I guess everyone is thinking of right about now : “why does she and most of Europe still watch this?” ,I can’t speak on behalf of all europeans but I watch it because it’s good fun,I get a kick out of seeing wannabe musicians forcing the best out of them and a crappy song with no logic.I’m guessing that’s why everyone watches it ,we europeans do even crap in style(u know, if it’s bad it’s at least a funny bad)and we laugh(or at least I do) at how ridiculous our countries contestant is.

Another fun thing about Eurovision is that the voting,which is done in every country separately and then transformed into points,usually follows the pattern of :”uhh,let’s vote for “x” country ’cause we’re neighbors/of the same background,etc” with small differences depending on which country had the most liked song.
This basically means that if you are a well liked country with a good song or show u stand a big chance of winning or ending in the first 3 .If u’re a not so liked country or u don’t have that many neighbors or,as it happens with us Romanians,your neighbors are not of the same background(meaning we’re latin and all the ones around us are either slavic)then you need a very,very good song or show to finish top 5.

This year Russia finally won and it was bound to happen since most of the republics that formed the USSR now have a right to vote.It was also predictable since that Dima Bilan guy had Plushenko and E. Marton on stage with him as part of the show and those 2 have many fans.

Romania “won” the 20th place (which is kinda’ embarrassing since 2 years ago we got 4th place and 3 years ago we were 3rd) but I can’t say I didn’t see it coming ……..that song sucked big time .

I liked Turkey’s song ,it’s pretty much the only one that stuck with me also ’cause it’s more in the style of music I tend to listen to the most and because I like turkish music.Best moment of the show was Goran Bregovic.

Before I post the  clips with performances from this year let us remember the recent past of this competition mostly because I seriously need to post Verka Serduchka’s performance for Ukraine last year,it was so funny and crappy and funny and I love it and I wish they could have sent him this year too with the same song to win it all.
